Monday was a great day! Thanks to the moms of Kira, Hafsa, Niko and Deen for helping us on our spring walking trip. We observed lots of sights and sounds of spring and had a fun play at the park to finish off.

The children also brought home their plants they started at school. Thanks Maya for sending in the seeds and pots for everyone!

We watched the almost done class video of our Super Héros! I took video of them on a green screen as they wore a super héros cape and told how they could save the planet. We had lots of fun finishing up this part of our media literacy unit.

For the next two weeks we will be completing an author study of Todd Parr. We will also be taking a close look at the different elements of drama as we learn about all the plans that went into our school musical, as well as attending our school play and making first hand observations and connections with drama.  We are also reviewing all the sounds we have learned this year to help with our reading and writing development.

We are finishing up our unit on figures and have been taking a close look at lines of symmetry and how figures can be the same and different.

We are starting our unit on the community and will be taking a close look at the map of our neighbourhood.  We will be discussing the different community helpers and have a visit from a fire fighter and police officer taking place in the next few weeks.  I’ve also confirmed our walking trip to Sobey’s (always a hit with the children and parents) on Friday, May 22.  More details to follow.
